Paris Valley Oil Field
Neon Operator & 100% Working Interest Holder
The Paris Valley field is the second largest heavy oil field (10-14º API gravity oil) discovered in the Salinas Basin and has been subject to no commercial activity since the late 1970’s. The California Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) has published oil in place estimates of over 100 million barrels for the field.
In December 2009 Neon acquired the full 100% Working Interest in the field and drilled an appraisal well on the northern compartment. Analysis of the North Paris Valley (NPV-1) well has shown that a gross 135 ft (41m) oil column is present with two high permeability zones containing oil that is less viscous than anticipated. Neon is incorporating these results into an ongoing appraisal program aimed at determining the reserves of the field, and a field development plan.
